About

Pharmacy educator, practising pharmacist, writer.

A short professional biography — academic background, industry experience and what I am working towards.

I am Shakil Ahmed, an Assistant Professor at Assam Pharmacy Institute, AEWT Group of Institutions in Titabar, Assam. My training in pharmacy began with a B.Pharm at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, followed by an M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics at Chaitanya Deemed to be University, and I am a registered pharmacist. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Before moving into academics, I worked for three years at Nestlé India Limited as a Nutrition Officer. That period taught me something the classroom alone does not: scientific information only matters when the person in front of you actually understands it. It shaped how I teach today.

In academics I have spent several years working with pharmacy students, and much of my attention goes to how material is explained rather than simply covered. Alongside teaching, I write educational content on medicines, diseases and safe medicine use, and I hold two design patents that came out of thinking practically about problems in healthcare.

Two projects have grown out of that teaching. The D.Pharm Study Hub collects notes, important questions and revision material for the students I teach, and Know Your Medicines is a digital eBook on diseases, essential medicines and safe medicine use.

What I am building, in short, is a body of work that makes pharmacy and healthcare knowledge easier to reach — for students, for patients and for anyone trying to make sense of the medicines they take.

Clarity over complexity

Most of what students struggle with is not difficulty — it is the way information reaches them.

Practice informs teaching

Working as a pharmacist and in industry keeps classroom material grounded in real use.

Health knowledge for everyone

People make better decisions about medicines when the information is written for them.
